Wood Chip Heating

Heating with wood chips is good for the environment and helps you reliably plan your future energy costs. Energy derived from fossil fuels will unavoidably become more expensive. Future developments in the price of wood are manageable by comparison.

Wood Gasification Heating

Wood is Stored Solar Energy. Heating with a wood boiler is in harmony with nature. This is because central heating with split wood logs, only releases the quantity of CO2 that the tree removed from the atmosphere as it grew.

What is the Domestic RHI?Earn as you Generate

Installing a 30kw log gasification boiler to a 4 bedroom farmhouse pays you £4575 every year for 7 years, fuelled by your own wood supply

The Domestic RHI (Renewable Heating Incentive) is a government backed scheme that will pay you to heat your house with a biomass boiler, the scheme is going live in Spring 2014 and offers single domestic homes a similar payback scheme to the Non-domestic RHI scheme which has been running since July 2009. The intention of the Domestic RHI Scheme is to offer home-owners an incentive to switch to green and renewable heating technologies to help the government meet their 2020 renewables target and their statutory 2050 climate change carbon goal. Whilst payments from rhi or renewable heating sources, such as biomass boilers will not be paid up front, the scheme is committed to paying a generous amount for each kWh (Kilowatt hour) of heat produced. The upshot is that anyone considering changing to the system will be more than compensated for their investment as well as benefitting from the more efficient boiler and cheaper fuel costs.

Who can benefit?

The Domestic RHI, as the name suggests, is only open to domestic customers; those who require installation serving multiple domestic properties or commercial premises will be better served by the Non-domestic RHI scheme. You will have to have a green deal assessment done on your home and, where applicable, have adequate loft and wall insulation. This ensures that those adopting the scheme are leaning toward more efficient homes as well as greener technologies.

What do I need to do now?

Talk to us. We have been dealing with the RHI scheme for 7 years and gained the first ever non-domestic accredited installation in Wales so we know what we’re talking about. All RHI installations must be done by MCS registered installers (which of course we are) as this certification is required for application to the scheme. We will make sure your system conforms to the correct requirements so that you can be sure that you have every chance of gaining your RHI accreditation. We can put you in touch with Green Deal Assessors and Ofgem (who administer the RHI scheme) so you know you are in good hands.
